Course overview
This course is an assessment of existing skill level and knowledge relating to cosmetic vehicle repairs. The trainer will observe the skills required across three main disciplines including Mechanical Electrical Trim (MET), Body Repair and Paint Spraying to carry out a cosmetic vehicle repair from start to finish to the highest standard.
The modules below will be assessed, followed by an online test.
- Visual Vehicle Appraisal
- Primer Application, Drying and Flatting
- 3 Stage Pearlescent Application
- Fade-out Repair on a 3 Stage Pearl Finish
- MET – Remove, Replace, Refit
- Panel Damage Rectification
- Aluminium Repair
- Cold Filler Repair
- Cosmetic Plastic Repair

Who is this course for?
The IMI Accreditation Cosmetic Repair Senior Technician (Full Route) is for technicians whose job role involves the repair of vehicle exterior bodywork through the use of vehicle SMART/cosmetic repair techniques. Technicians will ideally have at least three years experience across all disciplines to ensure they are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required.
