  • Who is this qualification for? Skilled technicians wanting to gain technical knowledge and practical skills to work safely when carrying out maintenance activities on electric/hybrid vehicles
  • Entry requirements: 2 years or more in vehicle maintenance and/or repair at NVQ level 2, IMI Accreditation or equivalent.
  • Qualification gained: Level 2 IMI qualification

Course content

This course contains the knowledge and skills required to work safely around any electric/hybrid vehicle. It offers a great introduction to this specialised industry sector which, in addition to complimenting their current industry qualifications and experience, will enable vehicle maintenance and repair technicians to continue to work safely on an electric/hybrid vehicle, but not to work on any high voltage components or systems.

All delegates will be provided with PPE Safety equipment to use on the day, which includes the necessary compliant Class Zero Rated High Voltage rubber gloves, leather Electrical Protection Gauntlets, cloth under-gloves and a full-faced visor.

Note: Employers must possess the high voltage tooling and equipment, necessary for technicians to work safely on any Electric/Hybrid vehicle in the workplace. The course contains one mandatory unit, practical learning and assessment, a written knowledge check, plus an online test covering:

  • electric/hybrid vehicle system components and operation
  • hazards surrounding electric/hybrid vehicles
  • how to reduce the risks to yourself and others when working on electric/hybrid vehicles
  • safely preparing the vehicle when carrying out routine maintenance (NOT high voltage components or systems)
