RWC provides all other PPE and specialist EV tools, such as high voltage insulated gloves and insulated screwdrivers.

Yes – specialist tools are required to ensure technicians can safely work on high-voltage systems and the unique components found in these vehicles compared to traditional combustion engine cars. We will provide these to you during your EV training course and can be purchased direct from us if required.

The courses are structured in levels, starting from basic awareness to advanced technical skills for working on high-voltage systems.

Level 1: theory only
This is an introductory course suitable for non-technical personnel to gain knowledge of safe working practices when operating near electric/hybrid vehicles. This could be valeters, sales, parts, VDAs etc.

Level 2: theory and routine maintenance
EV level 2 covers the skills and knowledge required to perform routine maintenance tasks. This could be inspecting and maintaining EV components, servicing, appropriate tools and equipment, and working safely around high-voltage systems during maintenance – though not live work.

Level 3: repair and replacement
This Level 3 award is a step up for technicians who need to perform more complex repairs and replacements on EV systems, still focusing on working safely but not on live high-voltage systems.

Level 4: working on live systems
Level 4 is the most advanced IMI EV qualification for technicians working on live high-voltage systems.

Delegates do not need any EV qualifications for the IMI EV level 3 award.

Two years or more experience in vehicle maintenance and/or repair at NVQ level 3, IMI accreditation or equivalent is required.

Yes – we have a Recharge Area with hot and cold drinks. For courses longer than 1/2 day, we also provide snacks and lunch. You will be asked if you have any dietary requirements once the course is booked, and we will ensure these are met.
