Course content

This course contains the in depth knowledge and skills required to diagnose problems and test components safely on any electric/hybrid vehicle, including the repair and replacement of high voltage systems.

There is a mixture of theoretical and practical work, including:

  • Use of safety equipment and procedures
  • Carry out insulation resistance testing on the High Voltage System and components
  • Understand the use of live data and actuation tests to assist you in the diagnosis of the High Voltage System
  • Potential equalisation connections and testing
  • Carry out battery management system relay weld testing
  • Test the power relays (contactors)
  • Diagnose high voltage system faults, identify and minimise potential risks and demonstrate a safe working practice throughout
  • Diagnose, remove, repair and refit high voltage battery component

To pass this award, delegates must complete a written knowledge assignment within 6 weeks. All information and guidance will be provided in the joining instructions and during the course.
